A Note from the Maker
I’m a software engineer based in New York, but more than that, I’m someone who genuinely loves travel, good food, and the incredible creators who document both.
Like so many of you, I spent years pausing YouTube travel vlogs mid-bite, squinting at street signs, screenshotting storefronts, and copy-pasting addresses into messy phone notes that got lost before my trips even started. I knew there had to be a better way to turn that inspiration into an actual journey.
So, I built VlogMapper.
Along the way, I realized this wasn't just solving a headache for travelers—it solves an evergreen problem for creators, too. Vloggers pour immense effort into finding authentic spots, only to spend hours answering repetitive comments for map links while their best older recommendations get buried by the algorithm. Putting their journeys on an interactive map gives their hard work a permanent shelf life—keeping their favorite spots discoverable to travelers standing in that exact neighborhood years down the road, while giving fellow creators a living archive to scout locations and build upon each other's footprints.
This isn’t a VC-backed startup, and it’s not an attempt to turn travel into a monetization funnel. There are no paywalls, no hidden agendas, and no corporate sponsors. It’s simply a project built during late nights and weekends out of a genuine love for making tools that solve real frustrations.
To be completely honest, my only motivation is the quiet joy of knowing that somewhere across the world, someone opened this map, navigated down an alley in Tokyo, Oaxaca, or Istanbul, and had an unforgettable meal they otherwise would have missed—while discovering the creator who made it possible.
If this project helps you plan a trip, saves you a little time, or brings well-deserved eyes to the creators who inspire us to explore, that is the best reward I could ever ask for.
Happy travels,
An engineer who just loves good food and maps
